Hey Y’all! Thank you for your interest in our family run farm. In March 2021, our family took ownership of an existing fifty four acre 100 year old farm and have spent the last years revamping the land with a little tender love and care.. Our farm doesn’t require a reservation or advance booking to visit when we are open with our regular day to day business. At The Union Exchange, we offer a unique blend of Southern hospitality and farm-inspired experiences for all ages. Whether you’re joining us for a coffee or beer in our market, a memorable holiday experience, a stunning wedding, or hosting a special event on our picturesque 54-acre property, there’s something for everyone. Enjoy fishing, live music, delicious food, and family-friendly fun — all in a charming farm setting designed to create lasting memories. While we offer a mixed retail and hospitality concept during our everyday farm business, we have a high amount of private events on our farm that can result in farm closures. We highly encourage every customer to visit our website calendar of events before planning their trip to our farm.
Shop artisan goods and snacks in our market store that focuses on supporting small local and regional businesses. We are a community centered locale where you can enjoy a glass wine while sharing Southern delicacies or relax with a cup of locally roasted coffee. We keep our lights on and the entire operation running through the hospitality aspect our business so we kindly ask that visitors support us and not bring outside food and beverage.

Farm Animals
We are the Brown Family, born and raised right here in North Carolina. Originally from Durham, NC, Mark and Libby met in 1980 and fell in love while attending East Carolina University. They have three children and two grandchildren that are all part of the The Union Exchange operations in some way, shape, or form. The Union Exchange started as a dream of having a family business where every member can be involved and create lifelong memories together in the great outdoors. We are so excited to share our land with you and your family where the principle of unplugging and getting outside are our top priorities. Currently residing in Waxhaw, NC you can find us working on the farm every day and enjoying moment’s with our grandson, Benjamin on the tractor.
THE UNION EXCHANGE FARM RULES & FAQ
- The Union Exchange is a private business that does not allow outside food or beverages on our property. Coolers are prohibited.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is for their safety and for the safety of our animals.
- Our playground is for Exchange Market customers only.
- Dogs are welcomed but must stay on a leash and not enter the barn.
- Party decorations require a reservation and notification in advance.
- Please do not chase, pick up, or disturb our chickens. Entering the coop without a staff member will result in removal from our farm.
- Our goats, donkeys and horses are super friendly! You can pet them but do not enter their pasture or feed them.
- Weapons are not allowed on our property.
- Photography sessions and memberships are required for any DSLR camera photoshoots (any camera with a removable lens or professional camera).
- To fish in our pond, customers must purchase a day pass in the store and sign a waiver.
